Redux

Is it not theologically significant how Jesus, Paul, and the other NT writers understood their Scripture, the OT? How did they read and value the creation story? -- this is my question, partially addressed below. For those who want to learn more about how the Ancients read their Bible, I heartily recommend James Kugel's books The Bible as It Was (I have used it as a textbook in various courses) and the recent How to Read the Bible, which contrasts the Ancient and modern critical approaches to the OT.
